Burnt Soul Behind the Scenes: Who Made Your Clothes

Ever wondered how your Burnt Soul catsuit, bodysuit, or leggings came to exist, and travel from our studio onto your sparkly self?
We are all about transparency here at HQ and want you guys to know all the love and care that goes into making your garments, and who's hands they pass through on their way to your wardrobe.

Meet the Team

Robyn - Creative Director

Robyn Lythe - Burnt Soul Studio - Who Made Your Clothes
Robyn founded Burnt Soul back in 2012, she's our head designer and creative, web builder, and a million other things in between! Get in touch with her here.

Anna - Studio Manager & PR

Anna Crawford - Burnt Soul Studio Manager
Anna joined the team in 2015 as Robyn's number 2. She heads up our PR and marketing, general coordination of studio goings on, events, and organising wholesale. Say hey to her here!

Hannah - Head Seamstress

Burnt Soul in the Studio - Hannah Seamstress
Hannah is our studio lycra fairy. She makes some of your orders, all made to order items (like the sequin catsuits and kidswear) and any custom creations that you dream up!

Romy - Studio Assistant

Burnt Soul in the Studio - Romy doing Orders
The newest addition to our team, Romy's in charge of all things stock, any sizing questions you might have and ensures you get your Burnt Soul nice and quickly. She's also our Queen sequin unpicker, and a dab hand with a paint brush and a staple gun when it comes to photoshoot backdrops!

Studio

Burnt Soul Studio Design Team

Our studio is based in the heart of Bristol and is where we design, create, do most of our photoshoots and send out your orders. We've been here for just over a year... and we think we've managed to leave a sparkly Burnt Soul stamp on the warehouse space!

Manufacturing

All of our pieces are made in the UK. Half of them are made with us in our Bristol HQ, by Hannah and Robyn (with sequin snipping assistance from Romy and Anna in times of need!). The others are still manufactured in the West of England, keeping everything nice and close with a small team of ladies we've known and loved for years. Check out the video below to get more of an insight.

Where we can, our fabrics are sourced from within the UK. For our prints, they are printed in the North of England, and from 2018 they are on our new eco fabric, Life Lycra. This is made from recycled fishing net and tulle, and helps us to make an impact on the environmental footprint of fashion. For those we are unable to get in the UK, we work closely with a colleague in America.

Let us know if you have any questions about what we do, or if there's anything you'd like to see more of!

Big love from all the ladies at Burnt Soul Xx

Sizing

Below is a size chart to guide you to your best Burnt Soul size along with some information of the different types of fabrics we use.

Fabrics - The amount of stretch you have in different styles will depend on the fabric it's made from.

Foils - We use a few different types of foils in our designs and they all act slightly differently. The black snake print we use for the Siren Catsuits is the most stretchy fabric we use but the rest of the foils tend to have less stretch due to the glue and foil coating.

Prints - The lycra we have recently started using for all our prints is a recycled Life Lycra. This is less stretchy compared to the Lycra we have used previously so if you're a repeat customer, you may feel the difference when buying the same sizes.

Sequins - The sequin fabric we use is embellished onto stretchy mesh so it has less stretch and acts differently compared to the Lycra catsuit. Whilst we have tried to allow for this in the sizing, if you're in between sizing then we suggest going for the larger size.

Leg length - All of the legs are cut more on the longer side and are comfortably suitable for an inside seam of 28"-35". Rebecca pictured here is 5'5" and we did roll these under by a few inches. If you want these tailored to your length click here to add an alteration along with the purchase of your catsuit. This will make the piece non-returnable.

Long torso - Due to the cut, the backless catsuits offer a lot more give so these are recommended for a longer body. We will also be offering torso alterations very soon!
